We are seeking a skilled
Steel Tekla Detailer
to join our engineering design team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing precise
3D structural steel models
and
2D fabrication drawings
for frames, chutes, bins, and platework used in heavy industrial and mining projects. You will play a key role in ensuring the quality, accuracy, and compliance of all design outputs in line with client specifications and project standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create
    3D models
    of structural steel frameworks, chutes, bins, and platework using
    Tekla Steel Structures
    .
  • Produce detailed
    2D general arrangements
    , engineering, and fabrication drawings from 3D models.
  • Ensure all work complies with project design standards and client specifications.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering and Design Coordinator to implement best-practice modelling and draughting methods.
  • Manage and maintain 3D and 2D files, documentation, and collaboration workflows.
  • Raise and manage
    Requests for Information (RFIs)
    and
    Engineering Change Requests (ECRs)
    as required.
  • Provide technical input to support project deliverables and tendering estimates for new work.
  • Promote a culture of accuracy, efficiency, and design excellence within the team.

Qualifications & Experience

  • NQF4 General Draughting Certificate
    (advantageous).
  • Tekla training
    – essential.
  • 3–5 years' experience
    as a Tekla Structural Detailer in
    heavy construction
    ,
    mining
    , or
    minerals processing
    industries.
  • Proven experience in
    Tekla 3D modelling
    and
    shop detail drawing creation
    .
  • Exposure to a
    design office environment
    is required.

Technical Knowledge & Skills

  • Proficiency in
    Tekla Structures 2022 or later
    (non-negotiable).
  • Knowledge of
    Autodesk design software
    – advantageous.
  • Strong skills in
    MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
    .
  • Excellent
    analytical
    ,
    numerical
    , and
    problem-solving
    skills.
  • Strong communication in
    English and Afrikaans
    (verbal and written).
  • Highly
    organized
    with strong attention to detail.
