CA(SA) with UK Accounting Practice Experience

Location: Bellville, Cape Town

Salary: R70,000 per month

Client: UK-Based Accounting Practice

An established UK-based accounting firm is expanding its South African team and seeks a highly skilled CA(SA) or ACCA-qualified Accountant with extensive UK accounting practice experience. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 6 years of UK practice experience and at least 6 years of UK tax exposure, including filing tax returns and a strong understanding of the UK tax system.

This role is ideal for someone who has either:

  • Worked in an outsourcing firm in South Africa that services UK accounting practices, or

  • Been directly employed by a UK accounting firm.

About the Role

You will play a key role in delivering end-to-end accounting and tax services to UK-based clients, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and insight-driven reporting. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with UK accountants and business owners while enjoying the flexibility and supportive culture of a Cape Town-based office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

  • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

  • Conduct financial analysis to provide strategic insights and recommendations to management.

  • Manage accounts payable and receivable processes.

  • Ensure full UK tax compliance and manage the preparation and filing of UK tax returns.

  • Monitor and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.

  • Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies during audits.

  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets.

  • Develop and refine financial policies and procedures.

  • Provide financial guidance to internal departments and clients.

  • Stay current with UK accounting standards, tax legislation, and regulatory requirements.

  • Prepare and maintain accounts using Xero Accounting Software.

Qualifications & Experience

  • CA(SA) or ACCA-qualified Accountant (Registered Chartered Accountant South Africa or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).

  • Degree in Accounting / Finance or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 6 years of UK accounting practice experience.

  • Minimum 6 years of UK tax experience, including compliance and tax return preparation.

  • Experience working in a South African outsourcing firm catering to UK clients, or directly within a UK accounting practice.

  • Proven experience servicing multiple SMME clients.

  • Xero certification or strong proficiency in Xero and other cloud-based accounting systems.

  • Solid understanding of IFRS and UK accounting principles.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
