RPL Assessor/Moderator

Eduvos is seeking to employ RPL Assessors/Moderators on a contract basis. The successful candidate will be required to moderate/assess RPL evidence submissions as and when required.
Position Type: Independent Contract
Purpose: The RPL Assessor/Moderator will be responsible for promoting an awareness of Recognition of Prior Learning in the context of the Eduvos RPL Certification Center (RPLCC) Certification Programme. This role involves working closely with candidates, stakeholders, and administrative staff to ensure a smooth and efficient RPL Certification practices.
Minimum Requirements- A relevant Tertiary Qualification (NQF Level 6 or higher)
- At least 3 years' experience in the field of education and/or industry specific facilitation and skills development
- Assessor Registration (ETDP SETA- US ID and assessment experience
- Moderator Registration (ETDP SETA) US ID and moderation experience
- RPL Practitioner Certificate (ETDP SETA) US ID is an advantage
Policy and Process
- Ensuring that the RPL Centre is aligned to and up to date with changes in the Eduvos RPL policies and processes.
- Implementing the updated institutional RPL policies, procedures and guidelines in line with the Centre requirements.
- Ensuring the Centre remains abreast of the developments which may necessitate the updating of the RPL Certification Centre guidelines
- Demonstrate an understanding of the conceptual underpinnings and purposes of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
- Continuously monitoring and evaluating of the RPL implementation process to ensure its effectiveness and make recommendations for improvements
RPL Applications
- Interview RPL candidates to engage and verify their experience
- Conduct candidate RPL Readiness Evaluations
- Provide guidance on RPL qualification selection
Assessments and Evaluation
- Assess candidate submissions for validity, authenticity, currency, sufficiency and relevancy
- Conduct additional assessments and support candidates through the RPL process
- Evaluate, validate and verify candidate knowledge, skills, and experience aligned to qualifications registered on the NQF
- Ensure RPL is conducted in line with national RPL standards and quality assurance guidelines.
- Adhere to quality assurance protocols

Quality Control
- Coordinate assessments for efficient system operations
- Ensure the relevant systems operates in a way that ensures quality assessment practice
Reporting
- Processing and managing assessment information
- Accurate recording and documentation
Capacity Building
- Facilitating sound communications amongst different role-players
- Feedback and contributions to development
Industry Collaborations
- Collaborate with educational institutions, industry professionals, and stakeholders to support RPL initiatives.
- Stay updated with best practices and developments in RPL in higher education
CPD - Continuous Professional Development
- Ensuring the centre remains abreast of the developments which may necessitate the updating of the RPL Certification Centre guidelines
- Participate in professional development and training opportunities related to RPL progression and industry changes
- Undertaking and RPL related Continuing Professional Development (CPD) annually
Functional Competencies:
- Knowledge of the principles and mechanisms of the National Qualification Framework (NQF) and its sub-frameworks
- Understanding of policy, guidelines and sector specific standards for; SAQA,QCTO, CHE,DHET
- Understanding of RPL principals and processes assessment frameworks and methodologies
- Subject Matter Expertise – deep knowledge of the qualification or occupation being assessed in a specific sector/industry at least 5 years of experience
- Industry Specific Expertise - knowledge of the sector and industry in which RPL is being conducted to ensure relevant evaluations
- Assessment / Moderation – knowledge of various assessment tools and techniques
- Evaluation – ability to review and analyse evidence and conduct competency based assessments
Behavioral Competencies:
- Assessment Planning and Design - Ability to develop fair, valid, reliable and flexible assessment plans
- Interviewing - conduct interviews, module mapping and reviews to verify and validate competencies.
- Portfolio Compilation– Guiding candidates on portfolio compilation to improve submissions
- Report Writing and Record keeping- maintaining clear and accurate records ensuring compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements
- Written & Verbal – strong interpersonal skills to engage with candidates and verify their experience
- Coaching and Feedback – Providing constructive feedback, ability to explain and give guidance to help candidates succeed
- Mentoring and Guidance - supporting candidates through the RPL journey with evidence gathering and constructive feedback
- Digital Literacy – using the e-learning platforms and digital tools for RPL processes
- Ethical and Professional conduct - Practicing cultural sensitivity and inclusivity – awareness of diverse backgrounds and ability to assess without bias
- Monitoring and Evaluation - continuously monitoring and evaluating the RPL implementation process to ensure its effectiveness and make recommendations for improvements
