Job purpose:

The lecturer (online) is responsible to deliver live online lectures, design and review online assessments, evaluate and assess and record online assessments, monitor and evaluate Work Integrated Learning (WIL) activities, communicate, where necessary with students and collaborate with the online coordinator and administrator to produce student results for the online qualification and/or part qualifications in the field of fitness, sports science and other fields. The lecturer will contribute to the design, development and implementation of online short courses, online part qualifications and online full qualifications.

1. Qualifications & Experience Requirements

Essential

  • Masters degree in Sports Science or a related field.
  • 1 year experience in delivering online lectures/classes.
  • 1 year experience in writing content and assessments for academic and vocational programmes.
  • Experience in workshop facilitation.

Preferred

  • 2 year experience in the learning material design.
  • Experience in Moodle
  • Experience in delivering online lectures
  • Experience in academic online assessments and moderation.

2. Key Performance Areas:

Online Learning:

  • Present online (virtual) lectures
  • Assess and record online student performance and provide feedback
  • Provide online student support
  • Facilitate in-person workshops and courses
  • Assist in reviewing and adapting existing learning material and assessments for the online qualification in Personal Training
  • Together with the online administrator, co-ordinate hybrid and online learning programmes
  • Monitor WIL and evaluate WIL logbooks for online students
  • Monitor the Learner Management System and recommend adjustments to improve the user experience
  • Assist in meeting the requirements of accrediting and registration bodies with emphasis on the application and monitoring of Continuous Professional Development (CPD)

Learning Material Design

  • Collaborate in the conceptualization, design of new online education products (online short courses, part qualifications and full qualifications)
  • Contribute to the writing process of new online short courses, part qualifications and full qualifications
  • Contribute to the design and compilation of online assessments for online short courses, part qualifications and full qualifications

Facilitation

  • Assist in providing facilitation for in-person training for online short courses, part qualifications and full qualifications
  • Lead the coordination of the in-person training and assessment for online short courses, part qualifications and full qualifications
  • Maintain registers, manage assessment documentation and student handouts
  • Provide feedback to students and reports to the line manager

Learner Management System

  • Assist in providing student support in working on the LMS
  • Communicate with the service provider to monitor student enrolments
  • Assist in reporting on student performance and making adaptations to the LMS.
