They are seeking a Corporate Finance Specialist to join their team in Johannesburg or Cape Town. The ideal candidate will have experience in corporate finance, project finance, or risk assessment, strong financial modelling and analysis skills, and the ability to evaluate project feasibility, manage financing, and assess credit risk. Excellent communication, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work collaboratively are essential for success in this role.

Duties:

  • Engage with lenders, insurers, tax advisors, and financial advisors while negotiating and coordinating financial agreements, funding facilities, and drawdowns.
  • Build, maintain, and update financial models to assess project performance, returns, risks, and scenario outcomes, ensuring accurate inputs across the business.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts, conduct sensitivity analysis, and provide financial insights to support strategic and investment decisions.
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, and strategic investment opportunities by conducting financial due diligence and evaluating market and regional conditions.
  • Assess and manage financial risks, including market, credit, and liquidity risks, while recommending appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Perform customer credit assessments, recommend credit decisions, and manage adherence to credit policies and governance requirements.
  • Monitor monthly project and asset performance, track key metrics, quantify financial impacts, and support audits, budgets, and internal reporting.
  • Prepare financial reports and investment documents for internal committees and assist with monthly reporting and presentations.

Job Experience & Skills Required:
Qualifications:

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related discipline; a master's degree or professional certification such as CA(SA), CFA, or an equivalent qualification will be highly advantageous.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in financial analysis, corporate finance, or a similar function.
  • Strong capability in financial modelling, data interpretation, and the use of financial reporting tools (including Excel and relevant ERP systems).

Skills & Competencies:

  • Computer literate in MS Office (Word and Excel a must)
  • Advanced analytical and quantitative abilities with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent financial modelling capability and the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to assess risk, evaluate opportunities, and support strategic decisions.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present financial insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder-management skills when dealing with lenders, advisers, and internal teams.
  • High level of problem-solving ability with a proactive, solution-driven approach.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to maintain accuracy and control in a fast-paced environment.
