Head of Product /Product Lead – Hybrid | Cape Town

Salary: Highly Negotiable (Based on Experience & Qualifications)

Join a leading Destination Management Company (DMC) specialising in tailor-made travel across Southern & East Africa, the Indian Ocean Islands, and beyond. Our client creates exceptional itineraries for FIT, Groups, and MICE travellers, managing logistics seamlessly from arrival to departure.

The Role

This senior leadership role defines and drives the company's product vision across Southern Africa while ensuring systems deliver efficiency, profitability, and outstanding client experiences. You will oversee the full product lifecycle, manage supplier relationships, guide commercial strategies, and lead high-performing Product & Systems teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute product strategy in line with company goals and source market priorities.
  • Strengthen and grow a balanced 3–5* product portfolio, with a focus on expanding the luxury 5* network.
  • Oversee contracting, rates, overrides, and supplier partnerships.
  • Drive innovation through market trends, client insights, and continuous product enhancement.
  • Lead and mentor Product & Systems teams, fostering collaboration and excellence.
  • Ensure operational systems (Tourplan) deliver seamless service and efficiency.
  • Act as strategic link between suppliers, agents, and customer-facing teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Tourism, or related field.
  • 8–10 years in senior product or commercial roles within a DMC or similar- DMC/Inbound Tour Operation Experience Essential.
  • Product knowledge experience as essential - Strong knowledge of Southern African travel products (3–5*).
  • Proven leadership of cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with travel systems (Tourplan preferred).
  • Track record of driving revenue growth and operational efficiency.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
