Audio Visual Technician

We are seeking a skilled Audio-Visual (AV) Technician with proven experience in DStv installations and 100V Line PA systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting AV systems across client sites, ensuring reliable performance and high-quality sound and video delivery. The Technician will be based in Alberton and able to travel to various customer sites

Key Responsibilities

• Install, align, and commission DStv systems including satellite dishes, LNBs, decoders, and multiswitches.
• Troubleshoot signal issues, cabling faults, and reception problems for DStv installations.
• Install, configure, and maintain 100V line PA systems (amplifiers, mixers, speakers, volume controls).
• Perform speaker line calculations, impedance checks, and system balancing.
• Install and configure PA microphones, mixers, amplifiers, and paging systems.
• Conduct fault-finding and repairs on AV, PA, and broadcast equipment.
• Terminate and test coaxial, audio, and data cabling.
• Read and interpret AV schematics, signal flow diagrams, and floor plans.
• Ensure installations comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
• Provide basic user training and handover documentation to clients.
• Maintain tools, testing equipment, and onsite housekeeping.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Proven experience as an AV Technician, specifically with DStv systems.
• Strong working knowledge of 100V line PA systems.
• Understanding of audio signal flow, speaker zoning, and line calculations.
• Experience with coaxial, balanced/unbalanced audio cabling, and connectors.
• Ability to troubleshoot hardware and cabling faults efficiently.
• Physically fit and comfortable with ladders, roof work, and ceiling spaces.
• Good communication and client-facing skills.
• Valid driver's license (field-based role).

Preferred Qualifications

• DStv installer accreditation (or proven equivalent experience).
• AV or electronics-related qualification.
• Experience with commercial PA systems (schools, malls, warehouses, offices).
• Familiarity with mixers, DSPs, wireless microphone systems, and basic acoustics.
• Knowledge of CCTV or network cabling (advantage).

• Must be able to work under pressure and in a team environment
• Good communications skills
• Able to start immediately

Job Types: Full-time, Temp to perm

Contract length: 12 months

Pay: R10 000,00 - R15 000,00 per month
