About the Role

As Product Manager, you will champion the development and optimisation of cutting-edge products, driving impactful solutions in a fast-paced, AI-forward newsroom environment. This is a hands-on role bridging our newsroom, engineers, data scientists, product managers, and UX/UI design specialists to shape the future of news in South Africa.

Responsibilities

  • Enhance and optimise Landbou's suite of digital products, ensuring a compelling and consistent user experience.
  • Interpret, guide, and refine products to meet evolving newsroom requirements and standards.
  • Innovate: conceptualise and deliver new digital publishing features, aiming for engagement and audience growth.
  • Collaborate closely with technical and editorial teams to specify and prioritise product requirements.
  • Monitor industry trends, technologies, and emerging best practices to keep them ahead of the curve.
  • Support editorial teams with operational product queries, troubleshooting, and workflow improvements.
  • Finding solutions in integrating the CMS with workflows from publishing programmes like InDesign.
  • Manage the product lifecycle for both existing and emerging Landbou digital assets.
  • Lead product rollouts, testing, training, and optimisation across Landbou.
  • Leverage commercial acumen to identify and seize market opportunities through product enhancements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • At least 5 years' product management experience, with at least 4 years in a digital/mobile environment.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional communicator with proven experience presenting to varied audiences.
  • Able to convey complex concepts in a simple and digestible manner.
  • Demonstrable track record of successful product launches and stakeholder engagement.
  • Thorough knowledge of prevailing and emerging mobile trends and technology.
  • Highly analytical, data- and research-driven approach to product development.
  • Strong experience with web and mobile product design and delivery.
