We are seeking a
Senior Developer (C# .NET)
for our client, a well-established software development consultancy
based in Cape Town and Port Elizabeth (hybrid role)
.

The position of Senior Software Developer will entail you to design, develop, deploy and maintain software systems and applications. You will assist in the management and mentoring of junior and intermediate developers.

Qualifications:

  • IT Diploma/Certification/Degree OR relevant programming experience of 8+ years
  • Advantageous: BSci Computer Science/BEng
  • 5+ years working with a tech start-up, in asset management or finance

Must-have Proficiencies:

  • .Net/.Net Core, C#, ASP.Net MVC
  • JavaScript, Typescript, React, CSS, SCSS
  • MSSQL Server, TSQL
  • Powershell
  • Azure or AWS

Responsibilities:

  • You display good to excellent proficiency in the required technology stack.
  • Tend to technical implementation issues.
  • Ensure you are familiar with the project reference architecture.
  • Identify gaps in the system and work with your team to update.
  • Transfer technical and agile process knowledge to team members.
  • You ensure tickets are up to date.
  • You take ownership of stories, tasks and all related development activities to complete the assigned work.
  • You ensure pull requests are reviewed and the changes are applied to the test environment.

Code Quality:

  • You are proactive in following up with Quality Assurance to ensure the work is complete.
  • You adhere to good technical practices which include: unit testing, integration testing, dependency injection, monitoring and logging.
  • Identify practices that aren't effective and suggest changes.
  • You review pull requests as the highest priority and participate by commenting and asking for clarifications.

Build and Release:

  • You deploy approved changes to target environments.
  • You configure and manage builds and releases in the appropriate dev-ops platform, or document the build and release process.
  • You take ownership of the build and release configuration or process.
  • You fix builds broken as a result of your pull requests.
  • You sufficiently communicate the release change list to PM and client.

Project Solutions:

  • You execute development tasks in line with the Technical Lead/Architect's solution and the team's project planning activities.
  • Where required, you take responsibility for defining the solution for a specific feature.
  • You demo the work to the team.

Teamwork and Check-ins:

  • You contribute during sprint planning and backlog grooming meetings to define stories with acceptance criteria and the necessary tasks to address requirements.
  • You attend and prepare for daily stand-up meetings.
  • When needed, you prepare for check-ins with the Technical Team Lead, PM and/or Senior Developer.
  • Conduct check-ins with your direct reports.

Important Communication:

  • You communicate progress and issues on development commitments to team and project manager.
  • You are open to communicating with clients on behalf of NML while including your team leads in the messaging.

  • Participate in relevant project support structure.
