Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary internal contact for designated key accounts, addressing day-to-day queries and ensuring a high level of client satisfaction.
  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with client purchasing, technical, and logistics personnel.
  • Coordinate effectively with the external Sales team (Key Account Managers) to ensure a unified approach to serving major clients.
  • Manage the entire sales order lifecycle for key accounts, from receiving quotes/RFQs to processing and confirming final orders in the ERP/CRM system.
  • Prepare and issue accurate, timely quotations based on client specifications, volume requirements, and pricing structures.
  • Handle complex technical and commercial inquiries, escalating to technical specialists or management when necessary.
  • Monitor and track order statuses, providing proactive updates on production lead times, shipping, and delivery to clients.
  • Ensure all sales documentation is accurate, complete, and filed correctly, including contracts, price lists, and communication logs.
  • Maintain and update the CRM system with current client data, interaction notes, sales opportunities, and historical purchasing trends.
  • Manage backorders and stock allocation for key accounts, working closely with planning and logistics departments to meet delivery commitments.
  • Assist in maintaining current contract pricing and ensure discounts or special terms are applied correctly.
  • Generate internal sales performance reports focusing on key account metrics, order volumes, and profitability.
  • Identify potential upselling or cross-selling opportunities within existing key accounts and relay these to the external sales team.

Requirements:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (Diploma or Degree) in a technical, commercial, or business-related field is essential.
  • Proven internal sales or technical sales support experience (minimum 3-5 years), ideally dealing with key accounts or major industrial clients.
  • Specific experience within the Off-Highway industry (e.g., commercial vehicles, mining, construction, or heavy agricultural equipment) or related heavy-duty component manufacturing/distribution is highly advantageous.
  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and understand technical specifications, product catalogues, and application requirements related to mechanical or hydraulic components.
  • Demonstrated competence in using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for order processing, inventory checking, and invoicing, and proficiency with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.
