Job Purpose

This role is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of client due diligence and FICA compliance who thrives in a professional services environment.

You will work closely with the Head of Compliance, providing critical support in managing and maintaining the firm's compliance framework. The position offers exposure to a wide range of compliance areas, including FICA, privacy and data protection (POPIA/PAIA), B-BBEE, anti-corruption, and client compliance fulfilment.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to handle business pushback professionally, ensuring compliance objectives are met while maintaining strong internal relationships. Role Requirements

Key Skills, Knowledge & Competencies:

  • Solid understanding of POPIA, GDPR, FICA, B-BBEE, and anti-corruption legislation.
  • Ability to identify, assess, and monitor compliance risks across business activities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication; able to simplify complex compliance concepts.
  • Ability to deliver compliance training and promote awareness across teams.
  • High level of accuracy in documentation, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage tasks proactively.
  • Maintains confidentiality and demonstrates integrity in all compliance matters.
  • Capable of prioritizing tasks in high-pressure environments and adjusting to regulatory changes.
  • Skilled in maintaining records and drafting compliance risk management plans.
  • Comfortable using compliance systems and databases to manage records and questionnaires.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Compliance Manager in identifying, assessing, and advising on compliance risks.
  • Monitor internal processes, practices, and documentation to identify gaps and areas of improvement.
  • Evaluate business activities to assess potential compliance risks.
  • Investigate and help resolve non-compliant activities across the organization.
  • Deliver training and awareness sessions to employees on compliance-related topics.
  • Stay informed on local and international regulatory developments and standards.
  • Support compliance efforts in key areas:
  • Privacy & Data Protection
    (POPIA/GDPR): Conduct monitoring and maintain data processing records.
  • FICA
    : Perform due diligence, onboard clients, submit reports to the FIC, and provide training.
  • B-BBEE
    : Update score monitoring tools and assist with audit preparation and execution.
  • Client Compliance Fulfilment
    : Complete client questionnaires, coordinate specialist input, and maintain a database of responses.
  • Draft and maintain Compliance Risk Management Plans.
  • Perform ongoing compliance monitoring and reporting.

Education:

  • Diploma or Degree in Law, Compliance, Risk Management, or a related field

Experience/Requirements:

  • 1–3 years of experience in a compliance, legal, or regulatory environment.
  • Exposure to compliance monitoring, training, and reporting.
  • Experience with client compliance fulfilment and documentation.
  • Experience with Client Due Diligence and FIC reporting
  • Familiarity with professional services or corporate governance environments is advantageous.
