Refrigeration Technician, Somerset West. The purpose of the role is to ensure that all refrigeration equipment is serviced and maintained according to specifications and in line with good engineering practices, always referring to health and safety. JOB DESCRIPTION: Minimum Requirements:
• Grade 12 or N3 or Technical qualifications
• Category Gas License refrigeration training and excellent knowledge of Electrical.
• years' experience on Freon refrigeration as Technician or Mechanic
• Knowledge of Freon gas handling and Safe practices
• Knowledge and skill of operating a Freon plant safely.
• Knowledge and skill to install, fault find, repair, and inspect Freon Plants (Industrial and Commercial).
• Knowledge of Electrical wiring and apparatus (Electrical qualification could be advantageous). Responsibilities:
• Assist in the installation, repairing and maintaining the refrigeration systems and equipment on the plants and at workshop to ensure safe and smooth operations and as per our company standards.
• Checking the refrigeration systems and equipment periodically and on daily basis for any fault f indings and repairs.
• Operating of power and hand tools in carrying out maintenance and repair callouts.
• Assist in carrying out all activities on the maintenance schedule as required and record findings as prescribed.
• Assist with metalworking such as grinding, cutting, mending, welding, pop riveting etc.
• Ensure that the tools and equipment specifically the Freon system are well looked after and stored in a safe and clean storeroom after use.
• Adhering to SOPs and Health and Safety requirements, especially when handling refrigeration gases such as Freon and CO2 etc.
• Assist Refrigeration Technicians whenever possible with the execution of their tasks.
• Ensure refrigeration plants are always clean and tidy.
• Be flexible to work overtime or weekends whenever required (Can happen during busy periods) and whenever needed.
• Check oil levels according to specifications and carry out lubrication as scheduled in compressors and condensers and on company cars.
• Conduct daily checks on all refrigeration systems and equipment as detailed in the Preventative Maintenance Schedule. Perform factory, chillers, and asset maintenance duties i.e. replacement of electrical contactors and supply breakers, fittings when required.
• Organise and do pre-planned maintenance activities on the basis of repairing plant chillers, fridges and freezers.
• Comply with the requirements of Health and Safety or relevant legislation, and policies when carrying out maintenance repairs on refrigeration equipment (and at Heights).
• Check oil levels according to specifications and carry out lubrication schedules.
• Adhere to Quality and Food Safety requirements when working in factories and where food are dispense.
• Ensure ongoing implementation (and where possible improvement) of the Quality and Food Safety system. Key skill performance indicators:
• Conversant with HVAC products, tools, installation methods and tidy working environment/site maintenance.
• The ability to work with minimal supervision and a high sense of responsibility.
