Job Purpose
The Desktop Home Assessor plays an essential role in the claims process,
working virtually to contribute expertise in cost validation and scoping accuracy,
and end-to-end management of the claim evaluation and subsequent fulfilment
activity assigned to them.
Responsibilities
Damage Assessment
Utilise virtual assessment technology to assess building damages to our clients' properties. Accurately report on building damages and convey findings through comprehensive reports, including a detailed list of damaged items. Review and submit reports and other documentation within set timeframes.
Operations Management
Provide operational support by performing a range of routine activities using existing systems and protocols. Responsible for adjusting multiple settings or parameters to meet performance standards. Make fair, honest, accurate reasonable cost related decisions through the building claim life cycle. Accurate quantification and validation of buildings. Validate all incidents and claims. Quote damages on a claim: Validate claims in accordance with the relevant terms and conditions.
Customer Service
Adhere to company values and high customer service expectations. Conduct virtual customer satisfaction and quality assurance checks in relation to building repairs. Maintain ongoing communication with customers through phone calls, emails and virtual assessments, ensuring seamless end-to end management of a claims portfolio.
Client & Customer Management
Help manage client relationships by carrying out simple procedural tasks. Effectively build, maintain and manage relationships with service providers and customers.
Repair Methodology
Determine and advise on the best method for repairing insurable damages, taking into account efficiency, quality, warrantability and cost.
Cost Validation
Carefully examine and assess the Scope of Works provided by a builder, ensuring that it accurately outlines the project requirements, timeline, and specifications; Compile a thorough Scope of Works that accurately reflects the damages from the Insured Event. Collaborate with relevant parties to gather necessary information, and alignment with policy; Provide expertise on fair and reasonable cost estimates for repairs, actively negotiating with our panel of repairers to ensure prices align with industry standards, best practices and internal rates. Understand and apply critical business principles, strategies, and insights to make informed decisions that balance customer outcomes with internal cost objectives. This includes tasks such as tendering work and negotiating cost outcomes with our suppliers.
Compliance
Ensure compliance with statutory, industry, and company requirements.
Project Coordination and Management
Coordinate and manage the assessment and fulfilment stages across low to medium severity claims; Analyse and assess the cause and nature of damages; Oversee the repair process from start to finish, ensuring timely completion, and adherence to cost and quality expectations Communicate and engage regularly with all stakeholders involved in the claims and assessing process to expedite repairs and ensure timely finalisation of claims.
Continuous Improvement
Contribute to reviewing existing operations in own area of work and generate new ideas to assist in identifying continuous improvements. Conduct workload activities in most efficient and cost-effective manner.
Personal Capability Building
Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching. Develop and maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education.
Education
Grade 12/ SAQA Accredited Equivalent (Essential) (Required)
Experience
2 - 4 years' work experience in the following: Building/ Construction/ Plumbing related experience (Essential).
Client services experience (Essential);
Investigation/Assessing experience, particularly within in a short-term insurance industry (Advantageous);
Buildings Assessing experience (Advantageous).
