Job Summary:
The Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) Assistant will assist in maintaining a high level of quality service delivery to all patients within the hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all sterilization equipment is functioning optimally and complies with required standards. This position requires attention to detail, good communication skills, and a commitment to patient care.
Job Responsibilities:
• Ensure that all sterilizing equipment is in working order and maintained according to manufacturer's instructions and established policies and procedures.
• Monitor and record temperatures on sterilizers during cycles to ensure proper performance.
• Inspect and test packaging materials to ensure they meet requirements for cleanliness and functionality.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, repairs, and testing.
• Communicate effectively with other departments regarding equipment status and scheduling issues.
• Clean and maintain work areas to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
• Participate in department meetings and training sessions as requested by management.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
Job Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and write English fluently.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology and infection control practices.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to operate steam sterilizers and other specialized equipment used in the CSSD.
• Physical ability to lift heavy objects and stand for long periods of time.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
