The main purpose of this position is to conduct high-quality research and analysis to inform currency management policy and procedures.

Detailed description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

  • Conduct research and undertake literature reviews on domestic and international currency developments that may influence the currency management environment.
  • Assist in designing surveys, interviews and other data collection tools.
  • Draft comprehensive research reports with findings and their implications for the Currency Management Department and the South African Reserve Bank (SARB).
  • Prepare summaries, briefs, presentations and visualisations of research findings and recommendations, and present these to all relevant stakeholders as well as engage divisional heads and senior managers on this information to inform currency management processes.
  • Coordinate research and project meetings,and maintain a comprehensive action log of the discussions.
  • Keep up to date with relevant trends, publications and methodologies.
  • Maintain comprehensive, up-to-date and accurate research documentation, reports, databases and publications.
  • Utilise research outcomes to make recommendations in respect of currency management policy and procedures across the currency management value chain.
  • Define business requirements with key stakeholders to ensure research objectives are aligned.
