Educare House is a warm and fun-loving preschool & aftercare situated around the corner from Kirstenhof Primary School (KPS) in Kirstenhof. We provide preschool for children aged 4 months - 6 years and Aftercare for children from KPS for Grades R-7. We are growing rapidly and are looking for two assistant teachers to start in January 2026, one for our infant class (0-1) and for our older toddler class (2-3).

Key elements of the role:

  • Support the teacher with the care, management and education of children in their care, ensuring the children feel loved, supported and happy, and are developing appropriately
  • Support the teacher with the management of the classroom, ensuring that the classroom is clean and organised and has good systems in place for nappies etc.
  • Support the teacher with communication with the parents, ensuring that the class team maintains strong, positive relationships with the parents, in line with the school's communication guidelines.
  • Have fun and play with the children during free play.

  • Is a team player, happy to chip in wherever needed
  • Has a positive, can-do attitude when faced with challenges
  • Strives for excellence, continually looking for ways to improve things around them and themselves as a teacher

Position details:

  • Start date: January 2026
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30-17:30 (baby assistant) / 07:30-16:30 (toddler assistant)

Qualifications and experience required:

  • Non-negotiable: At least ECD NQF Level 4
  • Preferred but not required: experience working as an assistant teacher

Salary: to be shared with potential candidates at beginning of interview process
