Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Junior Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will take over the current bookkeeping duties and be responsible for a wide range of operational accounting tasks including supplier invoice processing, bank payments and reconciliations, fixed asset registers management, direct debit processing, and month-end reporting support. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in transactional accounting who wants to grow into a broader finance function within a dynamic and supportive team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage bank processing, including preparing, loading, and verifying payments through online banking platforms in line with internal controls.
  • Process and reconcile direct debits, standing orders, and other recurring transactions.
  • Perform daily and monthly reconciliations and ensure all transactions are correctly recorded.
  • Maintain and update the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, and depreciation.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end processes, including journals, accruals, and supporting schedules.
  • Liaise with suppliers and internal teams to resolve discrepancies and queries efficiently.

Requirements & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in bookkeeping or junior accounting roles.
  • Working knowledge of Sage accounting systems.
  • Proven experience in accounts payable, bank processing and payments, and reconciliations.
  • Familiarity with fixed asset management and general ledger entries.
  • Strong accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a hybrid environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and professional conduct when engaging with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
