Tender Identification & Bid Strategy
· Monitor defence and engineering procurement portals and industry networks for new tenders.
· Conduct bid/no-bid assessments based on risk, capability, customer intelligence, and commercial viability.
· Review and analyze RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs to determine project scope and requirements.
· Develop winning strategies aligned with Logidist Group's growth objectives in Defence and Engineering markets.
Bid Planning & Coordination
· Lead proposal planning: timelines, resource allocation, and milestone oversight.
· Coordinate proposal development with engineering, legal, finance, and project management teams.
· Coordinate subject matter experts in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Defence systems, Procurement, SHEQ, Finance, Legal, and Supply Chain.
· Facilitate solution design sessions to align technical offerings with client requirements.
Proposal Authoring & Documentation
· Draft and format bid documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with client specifications.
Produce clear and compelling proposals including:
o Technical solution descriptions
o Work breakdown structures & engineering methodologies
o Maintenance, lifecycle support and logistics plans (ILS)
o Quality assurance and risk mitigation frameworks
o Capability and past performance statements
· Maintain a library of proposal templates, case studies, and standard responses.
Compliance & Regulatory Governance
Ensure adherence to:
o National Treasury procurement standards (PFMA/MFMA)
o Defence procurement policies and Armscor/SANDF requirements
o Export controls and restricted equipment classifications
o ISO 9001, and industry-specific engineering standards
o BBBEE scoring elements relevant to defence participation
Maintain confidentiality and security protocols on sensitive projects.
Commercial Structuring & Partner Management
· Develop pricing structures with Finance and Engineering Costing teams.
· Conduct competitor pricing and risk-adjusted margin modelling.
· Engage OEMs, subcontractors and strategic partners for joint venture proposals.
· Manage NDAs, teaming agreements, and supplier compliance documentation.
Client & Stakeholder Interface
· Support engagement with procurement authorities, defence program managers, and technical evaluation committees.
· Participate in bid clarification meetings and technical presentations.
· Track bid timelines and ensure timely submission of all materials.
· Conduct post-bid reviews to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
· Degree in Supply Chain/Logistics, Business, or related field.
· –5 years' experience in complex bids in Engineering and/or Defence sectors.
· Knowledge of public and private sector contracting frameworks, lifecycle support, and engineering project delivery.
· APMP certification advantageous.
· Eligible for Defence security clearance.
Technical & Behavioural Competencies
· Advanced proposal writing and editing
· Strong project management and coordination skills
· Financial literacy (pricing, cash flow, risk provisions)
· High accuracy under pressure and strict deadlines
· Negotiation and stakeholder management capability
· Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Adobe, CRM and bid management tools
· Ethical judgement and confidentiality commitment
