Job Description

A position has become available for a dynamic senior tax complaince officer to help grow our tax compliance team.We are looking for an individual to look after the full tax compliance function for the individual and trust tax clients of Forvis Mazars.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Gather and collate tax related information from clients and third parties in order to complete the following returns:

  • ITR12

  • IT12T
  • IRP6, 1st, 2nd and 3rd
  • Prepare the ITR12, IT12T and IRP6 returns
  • Prepare tax computations
  • Reconciliation of assessments
  • Attend to all related queries and SARS objections and appeals (NOO, NOA, ADR1)
  • Apply for tax clearance certificates (Good standing, Tender & Foreign investment)
  • Ensure quality control of the returns by preparing a completed check list when preparing returns for review
  • Achieve the yearly KPI's set out in the following areas:
  • Tax returns submitted
  • Fees billed
  • Register clients for Income Tax with SARS (IT77)
  • Estate Tax Compliance duties
  • Income Tax registration of Estate Late
  • Completion of pre-DOD tax returns (including deemed disposals for CGT purposes and calculations of usufruct and bare dominium)
  • Completion of post DOD returns up to final distribution
  • Requesting Deceased Estate Compliance letters from SARS
  • Manage individual productivity by achieving the agreed productive hours
Minimum Requirements
  • Grade 12
  • A tax or other relevant qualification would be advantageous
  • At least 5 years relevant tax compliance experience
  • Estate Tax Compliance experience will be beneficial
  • Workable knowledge and proven application of relevant tax laws and regulations
  • Ability to gather information, analyse problems and write reports
  • Stays focused and works productively in a high pressure environment
  • Deadline-orientated with minimum supervision required
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and organise workload and manage avg. portfolio size of 300 clients
  • Solution-orientated and able to overcome setbacks
  • Attention to detail is essential
  • Accounting knowledge, advantageous
  • Greatsoft knowledge, advantageous
  • Keeping abreast with latest tax legislation
