Malander is seeking a Credit Finance Coordinator based in Cape Town to provide financial and administrative support across key credit and reconciliation processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily reconciliations, capturing collections, processing insurance-related transactions, and assisting with monthly and annual reporting. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency within the credit finance function.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Systems Reconciliation

  • Reconcile daily transaction details between the POS and Debtors systems.
  • Investigate and resolve reconciliation differences promptly.

Capturing of Collections

  • Process manual payments received from attorneys, outside collectors, and administrators.
  • Ensure all collections are accurately recorded and allocated.

Account Balance Insurance

  • Collect and reconcile insurance data while liaising with internal teams and external providers.
  • Process and validate insurance invoices, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare insurance reconciliations and provide relevant customer information and collection files to insurers.

EFT and Direct Deposit Rejections

  • Liaise with banks to resolve rejected EFT and direct deposit payments
  • Assist during month-end or leave periods with capturing EDC payments and correcting rejections.
  • Post corrections to customer accounts and assist with queries from credit services and external debt collectors.

Bank Accounts

  • Assist with manual reconciliation of electronic and direct deposit accounts across multiple countries.
  • Follow up on outstanding reconciling items and monitor suspense accounts
  • Ensure debit orders are processed by host banks and accurately reflected in the debtors system.

Administration

  • Capture departmental expense invoices and coordinate with the marketing department, including weekly marketing reports.
  • Manage the collection and administration of gift cards and account credits.

Business Control Accounts & Monthly Reconciliations

  • Monitor business control accounts and investigate anomalies
  • Perform detailed analysis of reconciliations, including variance, ratio, and year-on-year comparisons.

Month-End Procedures

  • Prepare monthly expense variance reports and assist in budgeting for trade debtors and bad debts.
  • Support cost of credit calculations and prepare cash versus credit sales reports.
  • Prepare month-end journals, forecasts, and variance analyses.
  • Compile monthly trade debtor forecast reports.

Year-End and Audit Support

  • Facilitate the year-end audit by providing explanations for account movements and reconciliations.
  • Supply data and supporting documentation requested by external Auditors

Annual Financial Statements

  • StatementsAssist in the preparation of annual financial statements in line with reporting standards.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • National Diploma in Accounting or BCom Degree.
  • 2–3 years' relevant experience in a financial or accounting role.
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close processes.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, analysis).
  • Experience with Oracle Business Intelligence and Nexus Vision advantageous.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Strong financial accounting knowledge and reconciliation experience.
  • Retail industry experience highly beneficial.
