We're Hiring: Senior Backend Engineer (Hybrid – Cape Town)

Are you a backend expert who loves solving complex performance challenges, architecting scalable systems, and building clean, reliable APIs? This is an opportunity to join a long-established global platform that powers thousands of users across 28+ countries — all from right here in Cape Town.

You'll work in a tight-knit senior team, move fast, and own meaningful pieces of a mature, high-impact product used across the creative and talent industry.

What You'll Do

  • Architect, optimize, and maintain high-performance
    Microsoft SQL Server
    databases.
  • Build and deploy
    GraphQL APIs
    end-to-end.
  • Develop backend services in
    + TypeScript
    .
  • Integrate internal and external APIs with stability and precision.
  • Deploy and operate scalable systems on
    AWS
    .
  • Collaborate closely with a highly skilled senior team that values clarity, speed, and ownership.
  • Read and interpret existing
    .NET Core
    code where needed.

What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years of hands-on software development experience.
  • Deep expertise in SQL Server performance tuning, T-SQL, indexing, execution plans, and real-time workloads.
  • Strong backend engineering in
    + TypeScript
    .
  • Experience building
    REST and GraphQL APIs
    .
  • Knowledge of Prisma ORM (and when not to use an ORM).
  • Solid experience working with AWS in production.
  • Someone curious, self-driven, and confident owning systems end-to-end.

Nice to Have:

  • Ability to read .NET Core code.
  • Experience with distributed systems, event-driven patterns, or observability tooling.
