Rigger UG

Requirements

• Valid driver's license (if applicable).
• Clear security screening record.
• Medically fit to work in the specific business area.
• At least 3 years' experience as a qualified Rigger Aide / Apprentice / Artisan within a mining/plant environment.
• Section 13 or 26D (completed learnership / apprenticeship) Rigger Ropesman Trade Certificate as recognised by the QTCO.
• N2 Riggers Trade Theory.
• NQF 4 (National Senior Certificate or Grade 12 or National Senior Certificate for Adults) with English Literacy.
• N2 Engineering Drawing.

Key Responsibilities

• Rigging and Cable / Pulley Maintenance
• Conduct work as per job card received from foreman
• Select gear such as cables, pulleys, and winches, according to load weights and sizes, facilities, and work schedules
• Adhere to heavy equipment lifting, positioning and movement standards and specifications.
• All maintenance on cable and / or pulley operated equipment to be inspected and checked for quality purposes.
• Safe, correct and effective application of equipment and machinery utilised during duties.
• Adherence to maintenance schedules.
• Attending to mechanical breakdowns (cables and pulleys).
• Escalation of unresolved breakdowns or unsuccessful maintenance, installation and constructions. Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures.

• Completion of relevant documentation.
• Adherence to document control standards and procedures.
• Provisioning of data and information.
• Safekeeping of documentation.

• Ensuring open communication channels with all relevant stakeholders.

• Participate in risk assessments and investigate and take appropriate action as per identified risks.

• Reporting of all incidents and / or near incidents.
• Participation on SHEC related campaigns and initiatives.
• Conduct induction for team members related to SHEC aspects prior to commencing work.
