Diesel Mechanic/ Workshop Operation

Transport company looking for a Qualified Diesel Mechanic to join our team of professionals in Witbank (Mpumalanga).

SOLID EXPERIENCE ON REBUILDING, MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS OF TRUCK ENGINES AND TIPPER TRUCKS ESSENTIAL - MUST HAVE SOLID EXPERIENCE DAV TRUCKS

Duties & Responsibilities

• Repairing, maintenance and servicing of vehicles
• Examine vehicles, identify defects and repair all defects
• Conduct quality checks on repaired vehicles to ensure Standards are maintained
• Attend to breakdowns as and when necessary; work standby and shifts on a rotation basis
• Examine and diagnose defects correctly and take appropriate corrective action
• Ordering of parts
• Adhere to company policies & procedures, HSSEQ, housekeeping and customer standards at all times.
• Perform preventative maintenance

· Test driving vehicles to gauge performance

• Ensure appearance of vehicles conform to company standards
• Ensure the following (minimum) aspects are fully understood and can be repaired and maintained as required:
• Engine
• Gearbox
• Clutch related functions
• Brakes operations
• Tyre Audits and rotation of tyres
• Adhere to all Health and Safety policies and procedures
• Breakdowns:
• Due to the 24-hour standby nature of the position, a company vehicle will made available for work related purposes
• Manage any breakdown from call received to solution implemented
• Ensure problem is analyzed and probable causes identified
• Complete all relevant documentation and update logbook with breakdown information
• Provide feedback and complete breakdown report directly upon returning from breakdown
• Ensure breakdown vehicles are filled and cleaned
• Ensure current tools and equipment are available and taken on breakdowns.
• Complete job cards and pre-use inspection fault sheets
• Log all other identified faults found on vehicle
• Responsible to hand completed job cards to Operations Manager to be signed off in a timeous manner.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Grade 12
• Code C1 license with PdP

· Trade Test Certificate (Must be a qualified Diesel Mechanic Qualified Diesel mechanic with experience of DAF, IVECO, (34 tons and superlinks)

· Trade tested and at least 5 years experience

Skills:

• Minimum of 5 years experience

· Must have the ability to identify, diagnose and resolve problems on any of the trucks in the fleet

• Problem solving skills and analytical ability
• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy

Abilities:

• Able to work independently as well as in a team
• Able to focus and provide work of an extremely high quality
• Able and prepared to work shifts and standby when required
• Must have own toolbox

Other:

• You may be required to perform other or general work due to operational requirements, for which you are either qualified and/or capable of doing so, or any duties that may be reasonably expected of you
• Must be willing to relocate to Witbank- Mpumalanga
• Must have reliable own transport

Package & Remuneration

NEG, DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE

Pay: R18 000,00 - R25 000,00 per month
