Sports Trader

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sports Trader to join our dynamic trading team. As a Sports Trader, you will be responsible for managing and analyzing betting odds across various sports events, ensuring competitive odds, and mitigating risk to ensure profitability for the business. You will use your sports knowledge and analytical skills to make quick, data-driven decisions, while also working alongside other traders to optimize our market offerings and strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

Odds Setting & Adjustment:

Set and continuously monitor odds for a wide range of sports, ensuring they remain competitive and reflective of real-time market conditions.

Risk Management:

Monitor betting activity and assess risk exposure, making adjustments to odds or markets where necessary to maintain profitability.

Market Monitoring & Data Analysis:

Track live betting markets, identify trends, and adjust odds in real-time during events based on game developments, customer activity, and external factors (e.g., injuries, weather).

In-Play Trading:

React swiftly and accurately to in-play market fluctuations, adjusting odds based on live match data and ensuring a balanced book.

Collaboration:

Work closely with other traders and the senior trading team to share insights, develop strategies, and ensure smooth operations.

Reporting & Performance Analysis:

Prepare regular performance reports, highlighting key metrics like profit margins, risk exposure, and trading performance.

Customer & Market Insight:

Monitor betting patterns to identify high-value customers, optimize market pricing, and adjust risk parameters.

Compliance & Regulation:

Ensure all trading activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and responsible gaming practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Sports Trader or similar role in a sportsbook or betting exchange environment.

• Strong knowledge of sports, including teams, players, and ongoing trends across various leagues and events.

• Ability to use statistical tools and software (Excel, trading platforms, or proprietary tools).

• Analytical mindset with the ability to assess risk and make fast decisions under pressure.

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Experience with in-play trading and real-time market adjustments is a plus.

• Self-motivated and able to work independently, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, depending on the sports calendar.
