The role is based in Mokopane, Limpopo.

This is a Fixed Term role.

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Ensure safe, high-quality driving and effective vehicle operation
• Follow work instructions and orders.
• Ensure proper understanding of the required actions and orders.
• Apply recognised work, driving and safety standards.
• Ensure that tasks are completed to required quality standards.
• Conduct daily inspections prior to usage.
• Ensure that the vehicle is maintained according to set schedule.
• Identify any unexpected problems that could require higher level technical support to vehicles.
• Compile an accurate shift report.
• Report to supervisor when task complete.
• Drive vehicle according to load.
• Ensure that regular inspections are carried out on vehicles to ensure road worthiness.
• Ensure accurate administration of load paperwork.
• Complete role related administration.
• Drive according to heavy duty driving regulations.
• Participate in safety meetings as and when required.
• Report any safety related grievances or issues to the safety rep or supervisor.
• Communicate any process-related problems to the appropriate team members/supervisors.
• Assist engineering staff with vehicle maintenance.
• Ensure effective two-way communication with team members.

This role is at a Band 9 level reporting to the Engineering Foreman.

• Grade 12
• Valid EB/Code 08 driver's licence
• Valid Code C1, C, EC1, EC driver's licence
• Code 10 Driver's Licence will be advantageous.
• Public Drivers Permit will be advantageous.

Experience, Technical knowledge skills

• 1- 3 years heavy vehicle driving experience.
• Diving Skills: Applying safe driving techniques, such as maintaining a safe following distance and being aware of surroundings.
• Traffic laws and regulations: Understanding and following all local, state, and federal traffic laws.
• Hazardous material handling and loading skills: Safely transporting dangerous goods in compliance with all regulations (for specific roles).
• Emergency response: Knowing how to react quickly and effectively in case of an accident or other emergency.
• Good communication skills.
