Description
  • Teaching in the Intermediate (and Foundation Phase).
  •  Curriculum development and other learning materials.
  • Supervising students on teaching practice.
  • Research and involvement in research activities (publications and supervision).
  • Academic administration, development, and administration.
  • Learning support for and in multilingual classrooms.
  • Assessment and quality assurance.
  • Networking with schools and other networks.
  • Community engagement.
  • Coaching and mentoring.
  • Learner focus.
  • Meticulous planning and organizing skills.
  • Perform other functions as may be assigned by the head of department.


Requirements
  • A relevant Masters' degree in Inclusive Education (OR a relevant Hons-degree for Junior Lecturer level).
  • Theory of Education as a major at Bachelor's level.
  • A relevant teaching degree.
  • At least two (2) years' relevant lecturing experience in Inclusive Education and Theory of Education at tertiary level
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience in the preparation and evaluation of meaningful teaching experiences for Intermediate Phase (and Foundation Phase) students.
  • Experience and knowledge of support and differentiated teaching for learners experiencing barriers to learning related to Language.

Please Note: Preference will be given to candidates meeting the minimum requirements at Lecturer level

Recommendations:

  • A relevant doctoral degree.
  • Relevant research output.
  • Knowledge and understanding of CAPS in the Intermediate Phase (and Foundation Phase).
  • Solid grounding in the subject (Inclusive Education) as well as the teaching methodologies.
  • Experience in the planning, designing and editing of teaching and learning materials (including electronic).
