Job Description

Essence of the job:

To lead the strategic and tactical planning function of the contractor mining business by overseeing mine planning, scheduling, and sequencing processes. The Mine Planning Lead will ensure optimal resource allocation, continuous mine optimization, and the development of scenario models to support operational decision-making. The role also involves building a sustainable profit centre through offering planning services to external clients, developing internal planning capacity, and mentoring junior staff and graduates.

Qualification:

BSc / BEng in Mining Engineering or equivalent qualification.

Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency. (Advantageous).

Minimum Requirements:

A Mine planner with a business mind to improve overall revenue.

Train all planners and develop them (Graduates and existing employees).

10+ years' experience in mine planning, preferably in open cast mining.

Experience in contractor mining environment preferred.

Proven leadership experience in managing technical teams.

Strong business acumen and experience managing or supporting profit centres.
