About the Role

Were looking for a Senior Bookkeeper whos confident managing full-function bookkeeping for U.S. or international clients while working remotely from South Africa.

This role suits a hands-on, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a structured environment, values accuracy, and can work independently during U.S. Eastern Standard Time (EST) hours.

You'll be responsible for maintaining accurate records, producing management reports, and supporting leadership with clear financial insights that drive business performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage end-to-end bookkeeping up to trial balance for multiple entities or clients.
  • Process and reconcile bank, credit card, and general ledger accounts.
  • Handle Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), including invoicing, collections, and supplier payments.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
  • Record and reconcile payroll journals; assist with payroll compliance.
  • Ensure accurate VAT/Sales Tax reporting and timely submissions.
  • Collaborate with international accountants, management, and auditors.
  • Identify process improvements and contribute to better financial efficiency.
Requirements
  • 5+ years bookkeeping experience, ideally in a multi-client or service-based environment.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. or South African accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO), Xero, or NetSuite.
  • Excellent Excel and reconciliation skills.
  • Self-managed and reliable, able to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability and willingness to work U.S. EST hours (3 pm11 pm SAST typical window).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or Finance.
  • Prior experience working with U.S. clients or outsourcing environments.
  • Knowledge of SARS compliance and global payroll journals.
