Position Overview

As a Senior Process Engineer, you will lead the design and development of turnkey water treatment solutions for the mining industry, covering concept, basic, and detailed process design. The role involves preparing cost estimates and proposals, conducting client consultations and site visits, and managing technical interfacing. You will be responsible for identifying and reviewing suppliers and technologies, driving innovation, and contributing to research and development initiatives, including pilot plant trials and intellectual property development. Additionally, you will prepare and present technical papers at conferences and serve as the Technical Lead on turnkey projects, ensuring successful execution and delivery. This position will be based at our Headquarters at the Dube TradePort in KwaZulu-Natal.

Qualifications and Experience

  • BSc or BEng Chemical Engineering or similar with exposure to other engineering disciplines
  • Post graduate process-related qualification will be an advantage
  • ECSA Registration
  • 10 years' experience as a process engineer in water treatment projects environment with specific application in the mining industry
  • Competency and practical experience in design of membrane and filtration technologies
  • Computer literacy in relevant project and business management packages

Key Attributes

  • Experience and capability to find a sound balance between process design, cost effective manufacturing processes, practical construction methods and reliability, operability, and maintainability
  • Sound theoretical knowledge and technical ability UF/NF/RO membrane treatment and equipment design
  • Concept to detail design experience of plant and equipment
  • General knowledge of engineering sciences and technology applications in mine water treatment
  • Working knowledge of SHE and Quality assurance methodologies and practices for the mining industry
  • Leadership capability & business acumen
  • Project Engineering and Project Management Skills
  • Sound knowledge of procurement mechanisms and tender development
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and effective presentation skills
  • Proven ability to analyse complex problems, interpret operational needs and develop integrated, creative solution
