Job Duties

  • Assist the Optometrist in conducting eye examinations and vision tests
  • Provide support in selecting and fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses
  • Maintain and clean optical equipment and instruments
  • Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing patient records
  • Assist in educating patients on proper eye care and maintenance

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a certified Optometry Assistant training programme

Education
Certified Optometry Assistant training programme

Experience
Prior experience working in an optometry clinic or similar setting is preferred

Knowledge And Skills

  • Strong understanding of basic optometry procedures and equipment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
  • Proficient in basic computer skills for maintaining patient records

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional certification in Optometry Assistance
  • Experience with electronic health record systems

Working Conditions

  • Work in a clinical environment assisting Optometrists
  • Regularly interact with patients to provide support and guidance
  • May involve standing for long periods and occasional lifting of optical equipment
  • Adherence to strict hygiene and safety protocols
