MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Tertiary qualification in Extractive Metallurgy or Minerals Processing or equivalent

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role as a Plant Manager within a gold mining or processing facility.

  • Unquestionable track record of integrity and ethical behaviour, adhering to industry standards, regulatory requirements, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Medical Certificate of Fitness
  • Computer Literacy
  • Fluency in both verbal and written English is essential
  • Code 8 Driver's license

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This role requires a 4.1 MHSA Legal appointment.

  • The Head of Metallurgy – Operations is the top representative of the Metallurgical Business Units.

  • The jobholder manages his business unit independently but has recourse to the Executive:
  • Metallurgy for advice and expertise.
  • The jobholder aligns the vision of the Business Unit in order to maximise profits and ensures that the best extraction methods are applied.
  • The incumbent has a clear vision of what should be done in order to achieve targets.
  • Fundamental to the role is the leadership of this organisation to attain and sustain company

standards. This includes functional, technological, and environmental and people leadership.

  • In addition to functional aspects such as risk analysis, scenario planning, planning optimisation, benchmarking, auditing and reporting, and installation of best practices and standards, technological and human resources are developed.
  • The jobholder will create a culture of consequential thinking within his Business unit and actively encourage his team to align their thoughts to the consequences of actions taken and decisions made.
  • The jobholder must strategically position and manage his Business Unit in a profitable manner thus enhancing the image of the company both internally and externally.
  • In consultation with the Executive: Metallurgy, the jobholder will provide a strategic role in transforming his business unit in order to be competitive in the market by being aware of what competitors are doing and by bringing on board new technologies that would benefit the company.
  • The job holder is responsible for his/her own safety, as well as for others according to the Mine Health and Safety Act.
