We are looking for a
Senior Backend Integration Developer
with strong technical expertise in modern integration patterns, API development, and secure system design. The successful candidate will contribute to the architecture, build, and maintenance of DFID integration components, while also supporting the Oracle ERP functional community as a backfill resource.

Key Responsibilities

Core DFID Integration Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain complex integration processes and interfaces, including REST APIs, SOAP services, and event-driven integrations.
  • Implement secure API gateways, OAuth 2.0 authentication, JWT token management, and PKI-based certificate handling.
  • Conduct technical analysis and translate functional specifications into technical designs incorporating encryption standards (AES-256), digital certificates (X.509), and secure key management.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all integration systems, message flows, and patterns through testing, coding, documentation, and issue resolution.
  • Apply secure coding practices, vulnerability scanning (e.g., OWASP ZAP), and compliance-driven development.
  • Collaborate with vendors on platform implementation, maintenance, and hybrid cloud troubleshooting.
  • Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning, including failover and high-availability integration design.
  • Contribute to SARB's broader integration strategy (API-first design, containerisation, Docker/Kubernetes, emerging Web3/API monetisation trends).

Oracle ERP Backfill Responsibilities

  • Provide functional support to Oracle ERP users (testing, system setup, configuration, business analysis).
  • Drive ERP business analysis initiatives from initiation to implementation across low/medium risk projects.
  • Facilitate workshops with business stakeholders to gather and clarify requirements.
  • Review and analyse business processes, identify gaps, and propose optimal solutions.
  • Prepare functional specifications, manage change requests, and support acceptance testing.
  • Maintain accuracy within the asset lifecycle value chain and ensure data integrity.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on Oracle financial processes and best practices.
  • Develop training materials and deliver knowledge transfer sessions.

Minimum Requirements

Education & Experience

  • 5–8 years' experience
    in backend integration development.
  • Bachelor's degree in IT / Computer Science (NQF 7) preferred, OR equivalent practical experience.
  • Demonstrable experience in:
  • API design and integration
  • Secure authentication/authorisation
  • Cryptography and certificate management
  • Integration testing and performance monitoring (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana)
  • IT governance, compliance, and quality assurance

Technical Skills

  • RESTful and SOAP services
  • OAuth 2.0, JWT, TLS/SSL certificates
  • Integration architecture and secure design
  • Containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes)
  • Hybrid cloud environments
  • Disaster recovery and immutable logging
  • Oracle ERP ecosystem familiarity (advantage)
