Kumba Iron Ore

We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects – exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.

Job Description

-As an Auto Electrician you will provide services as required and your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

• Adhere to all health and safety practices requirements and promote good housekeeping to ensure compliance and an environment where team members can deliver their outputs within a controlled risk environment.
• Maintain and test light motor vehicles, mobile cranes, or other relevant equipment/machinery (when applicable) to ensure functionality, safety, reliability, and availability to complete jobs within the specified timeframe and budgetary limits.
• Conduct inspections to identify possible failures and raise notifications for repairs.
• Ensure adequate maintenance of HME / plant equipment and related machinery to ensure optimal utilisation and availability, and to maximise production and throughput schedule.
• Identify and report defects, equipment failures and time required to repair the equipment to enable applicable decision-making, action planning and problem resolution.
• Ensure work is executed as per Operating Model standards and procedures.
• Ensure job cards are completed in full and returned on time.
• Ensure all toolboxes and tools are kept in good condition.
• Ensure proper communication and handover of outstanding tasks between shifts and day-shift teams.
• Ensure equipment installations and commissioning are maintained as specified in the maintenance strategy. Infrastructure and post-installation work testing ensure functionality aligns with specifications within the agreed-upon schedule and budgetary limits.
• Continuously monitor maintenance progress and related preparation activities against ad hoc to meet operational targets, minimise downtime, enable timely reporting and enhance equipment efficiency.
• Provide proactive advice on all maintenance-related matters and ad hoc jobs to all concerned parties, aligned with best practices and within agreed-upon timeframes, to avoid possible problems and uplift the competence base.
• Liaise with relevant personnel to arrange assistance regarding resources required (equipment and people) to ensure successful task execution.
  Assist the supervisor and co-workers according to their level/area of competence and follow company policies when instructed or during the responsible person's absence to ensure the achievement of functional objectives.

This role is in the Engineering & Maintenance Plant (E&M) at a J4 level reporting to the Engineering Supervisor.

Qualifications

• -Grade 12/N3 Technical.
• Occupational Red Seal Certificate as an Auto Electrician
• SA Drivers Licence Code B.

Experience:

• 2 years of operational experience as an Auto Electrician.
• Knowledge of safety standards.
• Familiarity with company policies and procedures.
• Experience with PLC exposure and high and low voltage fault finding.
• Expertise in systems and technology, including H1 communication systems, Profibus systems, S7 PLC programming, optic fibre communication, and high voltage networks 11 kv.
• Understanding of lock-out procedures.
