Cloud FinOps Specialist

What will you do? ·

 Drive FinOps practices across the company AWS cloud environment to

optimise costs while maintaining performance, reliability and innovation velocity. ·

 Perform detailed cost-benefit analysis for cloud migrations and new system deployments,

translating technical architecture decisions into financial impact models (costs vs benefits). ·

 Size required AWS infrastructure based on economical performance metrics, balancing cost,

scalability, resilience and business SLAs. ·

 Quantify and qualify all costs associated with deploying and running systems on AWS, including

compute, storage, data transfer, licensing and operational/support costs. ·

 Build and maintain financial models, forecasts and budgets for AWS spend across multiple

business units and environments (dev, test, prod). ·

 Implement tagging strategies, cost allocation models and show-back/charge-back mechanisms. ·

Collaborate with engineering, architecture, and finance teams to establish cloud cost governance

and accountability. ·

 Identify and drive cost optimisation opportunities (Rightsizing, Reserved Instances, Savings

Plans, Spot Instances, storage tiering, etc.). ·

 Produce regular executive and operational reports/dashboards on cloud spend, trends, variances

and optimisation savings.

 Support cloud migration initiatives with economic modelling and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)

comparisons. ·

 Educate and mentor development and operations teams on FinOps best practices and cost-

aware design principles. ·

 Automate cost anomaly detection, budgeting alerts and reporting using AWS native tools (Cost

Explorer, Budgets, Trusted Advisor) and third-party solutions. ·

 Participate in architecture review boards to ensure new solutions are designed for cost efficiency

from day one. ·

 Continuously monitor industry trends and new AWS services/pricing models to identify further

optimisation opportunities.

What will make you successful in this role?

 Extensive AWS hands-on experience in operational systems and large-scale cloud migrations

with a strong focus on economic modelling and cost optimisation. ·

 Proven ability to translate complex technical solutions into accurate financial forecasts and

business cases.

 Deep understanding of AWS pricing models, billing, Cost Explorer, Savings Plans, Reserved

Instances and organisational cost allocation.

 Strong analytical mindset with experience in building cost-to-benefit models and infrastructure

sizing based on performance-per-dollar metrics.

 Ability to influence and drive behavioural change toward a cost-conscious cloud culture. ·

 Excellent communication skills – capable of presenting financial insights to both technical and

non-technical stakeholders (including executive level).

 Passion for automation and continuous improvement in cloud financial management processes.

Qualification & experience

 Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Econometrics, IT or

related field.

 Minimum 5 years' experience in Cloud Operations / Cloud FinOps in an AWS environment. ·

 Extensive AWS experience on operational systems and cloud migration projects with proven

economic modelling background.

 Hands-on experience in quantifying and qualifying full cost of ownership for cloud deployments

(including operational costs).

 Experience in sizing infrastructure based on economical performance and cost optimisation.

 Certification (required or to be obtained within 12 months)

 AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (minimum) – AWS Certified Solutions Architect or DevOps

Engineer advantageous

 FinOps Certified Practitioner or FinOps Certified Professional (FinOps Foundation)
