Responsibilities

  • Ensure all scripts are captured correctly and claimed timeously so that medication can be mixed and administered on day the patient has been booked for treatment.
  • To assist head office in patient levy collection when necessary according to current Dis-Chem practice.
  • To ensure that all levies have been invoiced and paid prior to the release and mixing of medication.
  • To ensure that all stock required for patient treatment is delivered to the site at least one (1) day prior to treatment.
  • Ensure that the patient stock is complete and that no items are on to-follows that would compromise treatment unless otherwise arranged.
  • Patient medication is to be compounded according to the original Doctor's script and in accordance with the package insert.
  • Compounding is to be done timeously and in accordance with the service levels required by the site.
  • Compounding is to be conducted in the most efficient and effective manner possible so as to reduce wastage of medication and consumables..
  • The Pharmacist is to assist site staff with any information needed should there be any incidents of patient adverse reactions to medication dispensed by Dis-Chem Oncology
  • To keep up to date with product fluctuations on the market and know when stock is unobtainable or on short supply and keep doctors informed these situations.
  • Ensure all patient/bulk stock received is kept in the correct storage conditions according to GPP standards.
  • Arrange annual laminar flow services for all contracted practices.
  • Ensure a proper waste disposal process is in place as per the South African Pharmacy Counsel guidelines.
  • Ensure that all consumables dispensed has been charged daily.
  • To ensure minimal credits are being requested.
  • Always apply FEFO principles for consignment stock.
  • Ensure that all short dated stock (3 months before expiry) are reported to Head office.

Required Skills

  • B.Pharm qualification
  • Registered Pharmacist with SA Pharmacy Council
  • Oncology and/or Compounding experience an advantage
