A leading financial services organisation is looking for a
Manager: Collections Strategy
to drive end-to-end collections optimisation, portfolio performance, and strategic model development. This role reports into the Head of Collections and is ideal for an analytical, data-driven leader who can blend strategy, modelling, and operational insight to elevate collections performance across the credit lifecycle.

Role Overview

You will take full ownership of the organisation's collections strategy—designing models, enhancing processes, implementing champion/challenger approaches, and working closely with operational teams to ensure continuous improvement in recovery rates, risk reduction, and portfolio profitability. You'll also work with BI, data teams, and external partners to optimise reporting, forecasting, and tool utilisation.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership


• Develop and execute the collections strategy in alignment with business objectives


• Identify opportunities to optimise and scale collections performance across the lifecycle


• Drive strategic planning, limit management, and campaign optimisation

Modelling & Analytics


• Build, document, and implement models and strategies across the collections process


• Conduct root-cause analysis and identify key portfolio risk indicators


• Lead optimisation of code, reporting automation, and analytics processes


• Oversee target forecasting and collections scorecards, including monthly tracking and reviews

Performance Improvement


• Provide insights and strategic guidance to improve monthly collections outcomes


• Implement champion/challenger strategies to drive portfolio profitability


• Partner with operations to embed models and data-driven approaches into day-to-day execution


• Develop strategic campaign plans to maximise utilisation of all available tools

Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting


• Work closely with BI/data teams to ensure dashboards are accurate, relevant, and actionable


• Communicate complex analytical insights to non-technical stakeholders in a clear, concise way


• Recommend enhancements to systems, processes, and policies to support business goals


• Apply industry knowledge to interpret trends and drive improved performance

Key Success Metrics

Improved collections rate

Lower forward-roll and non-performing loan ratios

Higher yield and net lending margin

Reduced cost-to-collect

Stronger credit loss outcomes

Minimum Requirements


• Honours degree or equivalent in:

– BCom (Maths, Stats, Finance, Economics)

– Econometrics, Actuarial Science, Engineering (preferred)


• 5+ years' experience in a similar role


• Strong proficiency in SQL, R, Python, AWS, and advanced Excel


• Experience in banking/financial services (advantageous)
