Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Procurement Manager to oversee the procurement process for our textile manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing quality raw materials, negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, ensuring timely delivery of materials at least cost procurement to support production efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing & Procurement:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with company goals.
- Identify, evaluate, and select reliable suppliers for textiles, fibres, chemicals, machinery parts, and other raw materials.
- Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, supplier capabilities, and raw material pricing.
Supplier Management:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Conduct supplier evaluations and audits to ensure quality, compliance, and reliability.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, and contractual agreements.
- Implement necessary internal controls pertaining to Supply Chain Management to achieve operational efficiency
- Develop and maintain a sufficient supplier database for raw materials and spares to enable procurement of desired quality items on commercial and timely basis
- Ensure least cost and commercial sourcing through either minimum three quotation based sourcing, negotiation of supplier contracts on commercial terms or through the bidding process to acquire goods and services.
- Demonstrate to the business the outcome of the implemented SCM strategy and its cost saving achievements
Inventory & Cost Control:
- Co-operate with the Stores Management to monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess stock.
- Optimize procurement processes to achieve cost savings without compromising quality.
- Collaborate with production and planning teams to forecast procurement needs and develop the SCM demand plan for the organisation.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Ensure all purchased materials meet quality standards and specifications.
- Release documentation for payment to Finance upon receiving assurances on quality and acceptance of delivery notes by the receipient departments.
- Adhere to industry regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
Contract Management & Documentation:
- Prepare, review, and manage procurement contracts and purchase orders.
- Ensure that Purchase Orders are raised on receipt of approved Purchase Requisitions from management of the ordering departments
- Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation for audit and reporting purposes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with production, quality assurance, logistics, and finance teams to coordinate procurement activities.

Business Process Management and Compliance:

Ability to develop, review and update the organisation's Supply Chain Management Policy and ensure it complies with best practice standards
o
Maintain and manage the SCM Delegation of Authority (DoA)framework and ensure full compliance with the DoA
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, reduce costs, and enhance supplier performance.
- Implement best practices and leverage technology for procurement efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Textile Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience (5+ years) preferably in procurement within the textile or manufacturing industry or similar industry.
- Preference will be accorded to candidate/s with understanding of textile raw materials, processes, and supply chain dynamics.
- Demonstrated negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Knowledge of procurement software and ERP systems.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with sustainable sourcing and eco-friendly materials.
- Knowledge of international trade regulations and import/export procedures.
- Leadership ability to manage a procurement environment.
Working Conditions:
- Office-based with visits to suppliers and manufacturing facilities.
- Fast-paced environment requiring flexibility and problem-solving skills.
