At inspHire, the primary role of the Principal Software Engineer is to design, architect and engineer software solutions. The principal engineer will work closely with the Product Owner and other business stakeholders in order refine scalable, secure and maintainable solutions that meet business needs. The principal engineer will be a product champion who leads the technical teams, is accountable for overall team performance, and fosters a positive culture in everyday engineering activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as a product advocate in all areas of the business, and with customer champions
• Facilitate architectural design decisions within the relevant product landscape
• Be accountable for keeping the product up-to-date with latest market trends; including security, privacy and regulatory standards
• Oversee product design sessions ensuring that engineering solutions are scalable and maintainable
• Collaborate with business stakeholders in order to engineer product solutions that meet business needs  
• Lead, coach and mentor technical team members
• Foster a high-performance culture within the team
• Ensure that cloud native and engineering best practices are adhered to within the team
• Drive CI/CD practices within the organisation
• Maintain operation visibility and performance of the product infrastructure
• Champion an agile/iterative development approach
• Drive and optimise cost effective solutions
• Constantly promote a positive attitude to the whole company and its customers
• Good communication and writing skills

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

• Extensive experience in developing scalable web application in Ruby on Rails
• Detailed understanding of cloud infrastructure technologies (Azure / AWS) 
• In depth knowledge of containerisation technologies
• Firm understanding of database technologies; PostgreSQL
• Comprehensive understanding of secure by design principles
• Significant experience in building scalable and performant RESTful APIs
• Good understanding of:
  • C#
  • HTML5/CSS3 
  • JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, Ember, Angular etc.) 
  • Linux / OS-X command line

• The ability to build and maintain strong and trusted relationships with both your team and key stakeholders
• The ability to influence and motivate stakeholders and team members to achieve objectives
• The ability to offer technical guidance to team members and key stakeholders in order to deliver optimal product solutions
• The ability to adapt to change in any periods of change/disruption
• Must have a pro-active, positive, open and collaborative approach to working with others in a team
• Must be open to learning new skills and self-development to drive both personal and team growth
• Must be comfortable in giving feedback at all levels with integrity as well as receiving it to build trust
