Job Description:

As a Detailer, you will be responsible for creating detailed 3D models and shop drawings for steel structures, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project requirements. You will play an integral role in supporting the engineering and fabrication teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and produce detailed 3D models using Tekla Structures for various steel structures.
• Create accurate shop drawings, erection drawings, and fabrication drawings, including Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and fabricators to review drawings and address technical challenges.
• Conduct clash detection and resolve any design conflicts within the 3D model.
• Ensure all drawings adhere to project specifications, industry codes, and relevant standards.
• Perform design revisions during the construction phase as necessary.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and drawing registers.
• Coordinate with fabrication and installation teams to ensure seamless execution of projects.
• Manage project timelines to ensure the timely delivery of drawings and models.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

• A relevant diploma or degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a related field.
• Tekla Structures certification or formal training is a plus.
• Strumis certification or formal training is a plus.
• Experience:
• Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in steel detailing and drafting using Tekla Structures.
• Experience in producing steel fabrication and erection drawings for a variety of projects.
• Knowledge of South African building codes and standards is an advantage.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in Tekla Structures (2020 or later versions).
• Proficiency in Strumis.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
• Strong understanding of steel detailing, fabrication processes, and construction methods.
• Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.

• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Effective communication skills (both written and verbal).
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
