Overall Purpose - Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

To ensure the smooth, secure, and efficient operation of all Microsoft cloud services through administration, automation, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and support Microsoft 365 services, including:
  • Entra ID (identity and access management)
  • Intune (mobile device and endpoint management)
  • Microsoft Defender (endpoint protection and threat monitoring)
  • Exchange Online and Teams (communication and collaboration)
  • SharePoint Online (productivity and document management)
  • Design, deploy, and maintain Azure infrastructure such as virtual machines, storage, networks, and VPNs.
  • Develop and manage Azure platform services including App Services, Azure SQL, Functions, and Logic Apps.
  • Ensure security, compliance, and governance across all Microsoft cloud services.
  • Automate processes using PowerShell, Azure CLI, and ARM/Bicep templates.
  • Monitor system performance using Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
  • Manage hybrid identity, SSO, and Conditional Access policies.
  • Maintain technical documentation and provide user support or training where required.
  • Contribute to the resolution of complex technical issues and incidents.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in security incident handling or cloud operations.
  • Experience in a Security Operations Centre (SOC) environment advantageous.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., GCIH, GSEC, GCFA) highly valued.
  • Additional certifications such as CCNA or MCSA are an advantage.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 technologies: Entra ID, Intune, Microsoft Defender.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Azure IaaS and PaaS services.
  • Proficient scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Azure CLI).
  • Strong understanding of identity management, MFA, and Conditional Access.
  • Knowledge of networking, VPNs, and firewall configurations.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks such as Zero Trust, and data encryption standards.
  • Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (ARM, Bicep, or Terraform).
  • Strong troubleshooting and monitoring skills across Microsoft cloud environments.
