The Finance Manager – Operations plays a critical role in ensuring financial integrity, strategic alignment, and operational efficiency across manufacturing, service, engineering, and supply chain functions. This role serves as a key business partner to local and regional teams, providing financial insights and modelling to support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety First: Champion a zero-harm culture by consistently demonstrating commitment to world-class safety standards.

  • Ensure full compliance with Weir Group policies, divisional guidelines, and the Code of Conduct.

  • Act as a business partner to operations and supply chain teams, providing financial insight and support.

  • Maintain integrity of overhead costs, monthly hours, and hourly rates across cost centers.

  • Report and analyze purchase price variances and production variances.

  • Lead the forecasting and budgeting of direct costs and logistics.

  • Monitor and improve forecast accuracy and budget cycle completion rates.

  • Drive product costing reviews across multiple sites.

  • Collaborate with planning teams on inventory SLOB (slow-moving and obsolete) provisions.

  • Analyze inventory and supply chain data to identify trends and opportunities.

  • Manage product master data and SAP condition tables.

  • Support the sales team with pricing decisions and margin analysis.

  • Assist engineering and operations teams in cost efficiency reviews.

  • Contribute to CAPEX investment appraisals and financial modeling.

  • Support working capital improvement initiatives through data-driven analysis and recommendations.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

  • BCom Honours in Management Accounting

  • CIMA, CA, or ACCA
  • You should have 5–8 years of relevant experience in a financial or analytical role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Extensive experience in the manufacturing sector, particularly within heavy industrial environments such as steel, foundry, or related industries. The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of complex production processes and capital-intensive operations.

  • Strong ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, legal documents, and technical journals.

  • Experience with ERP systems / Advanced skills in Microsoft Office tools / Familiarity with finance systems and tools

  • Confident in responding to customer and regulatory inquiries, and presenting insights to senior leadership.

  • Proficient in advanced mathematics, including exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.

  • Skilled in statistical techniques such as frequency distribution, variance analysis, correlation, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills: able to define problems, collect and analyze data, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Comfortable working with abstract and complex variables, including interpreting technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
