Technician (Welding)

**Overview**:
**Qualifications**:

- Matric with math and science
- Trade Test: Welding (Red Seal)
- SAIW Level II or IWS (IIW) Certification
- Any other relevant qualification will be an advantage

**Experience**:

- 5 years extensive, proven, and applied experience in a manufacturing environment
- 5 years trade test red seal qualified welding experience
- Extensive knowledge of the Welding Industry and job requirement i.e. joining process, materials, welding equipment and techniques
- Be able to manufacture welded products according to relevant codes and standards
- Excellent SHERQ experience
- ISO9001/ISO3834 implementation/Auditing will be advantageous

**Duties**:**
OHS Act Compliance**:

- Ensure Statutory compliance

**Responsible for**:

- Take charge on all fabrication/welding activities at workshop/site
- Comply with the Relevant Welding codes and standards
- Play a main role in manufacturing department as key member
- Serve Inhouse inspection before, during and after as routine work
- Manage all NDT activities inhouse and sub-contractors
- Maintain and uplift the integrity of manufacturing
- To be self-drive and raise job specific welding procedures (WPS)and QCP’s
- Train and share knowledge with team to lift the quality performance
- Proactive planning to achieve targets and reduce cost/time
- Perform inspections on welding equipment
- Keep track of welding inspection documentation
- Assisting with maintenance and project activities
- Assist with work during shutdowns and commissioning
- Engineering and plant risk assessments (HIRA)
- Record and Report all welding deviations to management

**Budget Control / Cost Management**:

- Approve purchase orders within certain cost limit
- Obtain quotations from external service providers
