Manufacture a range of mechanical parts and spares according to specification using a variety of workshop machines, hand tools and measuring equipment
- Manufacture components according to approved drawings
- Identify errors in drawings as well as improvements in manufacturing methods and/or processes
- Quality inspection of parts and spares manufactured
- Assembly of parts and spares to form sub-assemblies or completed equipment
- Set up and commissioning of sub-assemblies or machines to be fit for purpose for production
- Planning of work
- Incorporating best workshop manufacturing practices
- Provide scheduled as well as emergency breakdown service to the business
- Analyse problems on machines and provide engineering and manufacturing advice
- Assist with training and multiskilling of artisans in the workshop
- Assist with the maintenance of machines and tools in the workshop
- Overseeing and assisting a local team of artisans that perform similar work as stated above (manufacture, assembly, set up, test, etc.)
- Support continual business improvement and change management especially relating to Asset Care
- Assist management with daily workshop related tasks
- Comply with governance and established policies, systems, procedures and practices
- Comply with Safety, Health and Environment standards

**Qualifications & Experience**:
- N3 Qualification in Mechanical Engineering
- Qualified artisan with trade test qualification with minimum 3-5 years’ workshop and machine manufacturing experience
- Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings and have good knowledge of tolerances relating to the machining of materials.
- Capable of performing fault finding and diagnostics on mechanical machines Management training and experience will be an advantage
- Knowledge of the OHS Act and Explosive Act
- In-depth knowledge of engineering related principles and standards
- Knowledge of maintenance in a manufacturing environment
