SECTION: Gold Segment Mining

JOB GRADING: E -Lower

DATE OF VACANCY: Immediately

The appointee should:

- Be in possession of a Degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering
- Have a Mine Managers Certificate of Competency
- Have At least 5 years experience in a related role, of which 3 should have been at a Unit managerial level or experience in a functional/specialist area
- Be an assertive goal-orientated self-starter with good interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to pay attention to detail
- Possess sound analytical and decision-making skills.
- Be assertive, creative and solutions orientated
- Have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Be stress tolerant
- Have sound people management and business development skills
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office
- Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk based medical examination at the relevant Mines Occupational Health Centre.

Advantageous requirements:

- Have undergone a Middle/ Executive Managerial Leadership Programme

Key responsibilities:

- Driving a culture of Safety ownership with a strong emphasis on behaviour-based safety
- Leading the mine operations management team and manage all mining personnel and resources
- Preparing and implementing operational plans for the mine, and continuously monitor leading and driving the plan to ensure the goals are met.
- Proposing capital expenditure projects when required to expand capacity or improve operations
- Preparing production and operating budgets, and monitor and report on performance and costs
- Recognizing and anticipating operational, technical and safety challenges, taking action to prevent or overcome them, and seek continuous improvement
- Contributing to business planning and company strategy to improve competitiveness, profitability and growth
