Thungela Resources [Thungela means “to ignite” in isiZulu] is a leading South African thermal coal business, focused exclusively on thermal coal production. It is one of the largest pure-play producers and exporters of thermal coal in South Africa based on aggregate coal reserves and marketable coal production. Thungela focuses on exporting its thermal coal portfolio mainly to the Indian, Asian, Southeast Asian, Middle East and North African markets.

You will take on the responsibility to conduct physical examinations on patients which will include completing the interview questionnaire before the full examination, taking vital signs, collecting relevant samples for relevant samples for required tests as well as making required recommendations and referrals.

**More of your responsibilities will include**:

- Ensuring patients are assisted effectively and that the auxiliary nurses practise within their scope
- Ensuring that record keeping in accordance with legislation and that staff report for work on time as well as ensuring orientation for new staff members
- Ensuring medical examinations are conducted effectively for fitness to work
- Ensuring the medical staff disposes the medical waste in the correct medical and sharps containers
- Ensuring understanding of processes when carrying out tasks and that the read and understand the operations standard procedures
- Conducting VCT during certificate of fitness
- Ensuring you are provided with the correct development opportunities

**This role is in the Service department at level 3 and reports to the Health Centre Superintendent**
**Qualifications**
- Diploma / Degree in Nursing (NQF level 7)
- Registered with SANC as Professional Nurse
- Diploma/ B Tech in Occupational Health
- Dispensing licence

**Knowledge and Experience**
- Experience in Occupational Health
- Experience in Audiometry and Spirometry
- 2 years’ experience in Nursing
- Computer literate
- Valid Driver’s License
- Knowledge of ARV will be an advantage
- Knowledge of TB management will be an advantage
- Registered as a community health nurse

**Additional Information**
- Knowledge of nursing processes, procedures, and techniques
- Understanding of safety management, behavioural safety and risk management framework, procedures, and systems
- Good understanding of the related health care policies and procedures
- Abreast of current medical standards and trends
