**Overall Job Purpose**:

- The Manager Library Services leads the national academic resourcing, operations, and quality assurance of library and information services across campuses. This includes strategic planning, policy development, institutional procurement, vendor management, and digital systems coordination. The role aligns library services with academic strategy, teaching and learning, and programme development goals.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Strategic Planning and Budgeting**
- Lead the annual LIS planning cycle for textbooks, journals, systems, and staff development. Align with institutional priorities and manage budgeting.

**Resource Management**
- Manage textbook and journal acquisitions, against vendor agreements as negotiated with vendors, maintain

**Quality Assurance and Compliance**
- Monitor library operations for compliance with LIS standards and Pulse audits. Lead policy alignment and participate in Senate reporting for the institution.

**Staff Capability and Development**
- Build capacity in campus librarians. Facilitate training workshops, foster collaboration and support academic initiatives..

**Digital Systems Oversight**
- Oversee library websites, access to digital archives, and national platforms. Maintain past paper archives and institutional repositories.

**Teaching, Learning, and Programme Support**
- Support curriculum with access to academic content, contribute to programme reviews, and align resources with delivery needs.

**Minimum Educational Requirement**:

- Honours Degree (NQF Level 8) in Library and Information Science.
- Postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 9) in Library Science, Higher Education, or Information Management would be ideal.
- LIASA membership would be preferable.

**Minimum Work Requirement**:

- 5 years academic library experience
- 3 years experience in management or coordination of library operations
- Familiarity with higher education academic processes and compliance frameworks.
- Working knowledge of digital and physical academic resourcing systems.
- Vendor negotiation and contract management experience.
