**Requirements**:

- A Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in emissions testing vehicles
- Peace Officer Qualification
- Competent in the operation of Light Obscuration Smoke

Meter - Wager or similar device and conducting testing
according to the Free Acceleration Testing procedure.
- Computer Literate
- A valid Driver’s Licence ( and fleet drivers tag preferable)
- A basic understanding of the operation of a diesel vehicle

and exhaust system
Key Performance Areas
- Compile a monthly programme by ensuring efficient and

effective Roadside Emissions Testing
- Supervise the setting up of Diesel Vehicle Emission Testing

Sites and performing Diesel Vehicle Emission Testing
- Prepare reports of Diesel Vehicle Emission Testing Site

activities and drafting Legal Documentation
- Prepare Legal Documentation regarding prosecutions as

prescribed by legislation
- Visiting diesel fleet owners to discuss maintenance of fleets

and informing them of Diesel Vehicle Emission Testing
procedures and conducting special projects to test fleet vehicles
- Tasks may include occasional afterhours work on a TOIL basis
- Demonstrating Diesel Vehicle Emission Testing procedures

at schools and universities
- Performing general office administration.
- Collecting stock from the stores and other driving duties as

required for Specialised Health Branch.
