A Fintech technology company has a new role available for skilled Data Scientist to join their Team. The team will consider a strong data scientist ready to move into a lead role or someone already established in a lead role.

The organisation builds and offers various products and services from for small and medium enterprises from instant access to funding to all-in-one business banking accounts and cutting-edge financial analysis tools.

**PURPOSE OF THE ROLE**

Working closely with our Head of Data Science, you will develop high-quality algorithms that produce scalable predictive models and help us make smarter decisions to deliver even better products.

In addition to building high quality prediction systems integrated with our products you will act as a mentor and role model for the Data Scientists in our team.

**Main responsibilities will include**:

- Continuously evaluate and develop analytical models and metrics to support funding decisions using the most appropriate tools and techniques
- Ensure appropriate governance is applied to the development, sign-off and monitoring of analytical models, metrics and tools
- Providing insights for the ongoing improvement and updating of models to enhance risk predictions and optimise business processes
- Provide input around how we can improve tools and processes already in place, specifically in identifying new opportunities to improve customer performance and experience using machine learning methods
- Extend companys data with third party sources that is relevant for building analytic systems
- Work closely with the Data Engineering function to develop, maintain and scale the Data Warehouse
- Collaborate with our Product team to ensure work is prioritised
- Keep up to date with AI/ML technology to help identify emerging trends and methodologies
- Participate in the recruitment process as we look to expand our team

**THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WERE LOOKING FOR**
- Degree in a quantitative field (Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics or equivalent), preferably a Masters qualification
- 2+ years experience working within financial services
- 4+ years overall experience within data and analytics
- Skilled in Python (pandas, NumPy, scikit, etc.) and SQL (Postgres and MSSQL)
- Experience mentoring other Data Scientists with the ability to get teams working together to resolve problems
- Leading by example, always demonstrating best practices around model development
- Understanding and appreciation of product development processes within an agile environment
- Great communication skills with the ability to relay technical information to a non-technical audience
