**Head: Risk Management**:

- Our client is a wholly owned subsidiary of the 3rd largest reinsurance group in the world. They are looking to appoint a senior risk professional into the role of Head: Risk Management, reporting directly to the MD.
- Duties & Responsibilities

Key reponsibilities include:

- The integration of risk strategy with business strategy, in order to ensure risk management is embedded in strategy and business activities
- Establish a risk management framework for the company, that aligns with and maintains appropriate consistency with the local Group and the International Group Risk Framework and with local regulatory requirements
- Oversee identification, assessment and ranking of risks (risk register), including accumulations and correlations
- Monitor and report on changes in risk levels and implementation of agreed action items
- Recommend mitigating actions for areas of excessive risk-taking
- Oversee implementation of relevant aspects of legislation, regulation and guidance, (i.e. IFRS 17 etc);
- Take responsibility for internal model governance;
- Participate in industry forums to steer development of regulations;
- Stay abreast of and implement best practice risk management techniques;
- Report on risk exposures relative to limits and thresholds, as well as actions taken to address areas of excessive risk, to Risk Committee, Board and Local Group Risk Management;
- Desired Experience & Qualification
- have a risk, compliance, accounting degree (or similar) and an Honours degree would be advantageous
- have a minimum 5 years of reinsurance and/or insurance experience would be ideal; experience within financial services will also be considered
- have experience of risk management and risk reporting
- have experience in leading a team.
- be professional, results oriented, with attention to detail and the ability to multitask
- have very solid interpersonal, communication, negotiation and organizational skills
- Package & Remuneration
R 1 million CTC per annum
