Department Description

The Mandela Institute is a Centre in the School of Law of the University of the Witwatersrand with a commitment to honoring Nelson Mandela's vision of economic inclusion by: producing impactful law and policy orientated research; providing opportunities for continuous, advanced learning and professional development; and through public engagement on critical questions of law and public policy.

One of the main focus areas of the Institute is to study the legal and policy questions that arise from the rapid technological changes associated with the exponential increase in computing power and the 4th Industrial Revolution. The Institute requires a Senior Researcher with expertise in the interdisciplinary field of Technology, Regulation, and Public Policy. The Senior Researcher will be expected to develop research projects, draft research-funding proposals, publish peer reviewed research, do postgraduate supervision, develop advanced learning courses, and might also be expected to lecture. The Researcher will Report to the Director of The Mandela Institute.
